God Says It Won’t Work!

God Says It Won’t Work!

Our mistakes do not define us. They don’t limit us. They may change us. Grow us. Heal us. But they won’t destroy us.

Be aware…the enemy is relentless. He doesn’t get tired of trying to derail us. His job is to make sure we never get to the fullness of what God has predestined for us. He doesn’t want us to know how powerful we really are. Because if we knew…we would be so much more dangerous in the Kingdom of God. He wants us to be so distracted that we won’t recognize what he’s doing.

But God says it won’t work.

God has given us the wisdom needed to defeat the tricks he sometimes play on us. Our biggest defense is to read God’s word so that we can see in advance how to avoid some of the pitfalls Satan and his imps try to set up for us. Because he will never quit coming after us.

But God says it won’t work.

When Jesus came out of the wilderness after the 40 days (Matthew 4:1-11), the enemy was right there to try to distract Him. To tempt Him. To keep Him from doing the will of God. And he did that because he knew Jesus was about to walk into His destiny. He knew that millions and millions of people would be saved through Him. He even tried to use the word of God against THE WORD of GOD.

But God says it won’t work.

The thing is…when Jesus didn’t fall for his schemes, the Bible says that he went away for a time. That didn’t mean that he wouldn’t try again. It just meant that he needed to regroup for the next attack. Just like God has assigned angels to cover us, the enemy has assigned his minions to study us. But he is defeated, and nothing he tries will ever work…not unless we let it

We will continue to make mistakes as long as we are on this earth. That’s how many of us learn those hard lessons. Some of us just need real-life examples. And that’s okay. Our job is to grow from them. And to keep looking forward to that place in God where doubt, fear, and condemnation no longer has our address.

Until next time…

He put it in Writing

He put it in Writing

What happens when the plan you had doesn’t work out? Who do you turn to when your dream goes up in smoke?

You turn to the One who always has your back…whether it feels like it or not.

Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” Our Father knows best. We just have to listen. Sometimes that means that our plans won’t line up with His plan. When that happens, we have to know that it really wasn’t meant for us. I know that sounds easier said than done, but we can actually confirm it through God’s word. In Psalm 84:11 it says in part, “…No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

I love that God had the plan for our lives put in writing so that we could go back to it as much as we need to.

I think one of the best things we can do for ourselves involves listening more…to one another, but especially to God. He has the master plan. So, if what we have been thinking about does not involve checking in with Him first…don’t even bother. Because the Bible says that “only what we do for God will last” (2 Cor. 5:9-10).

I can only speak for myself, but I don’t want anything that God doesn’t want for me. If He is not in it…I don’t want any part of it. I always want to make God smile. I pray that He knows that my only goal is for my life to be pleasing to Him. The word says that “if we seek His kingdom first, all the other things will be added unto us” (Luke 12:31).

We can have all the material things in the world, and still be miserable…and that is not the kind of life we want.

Here’s the thing…submitting our plans to God also falls under listening. When we keep our ear to His lips, we can be assured that we are making the right decisions. Try reading Psalm 23 out loud, and when you read it really listen to what it says. This Psalm is like a love letter to us.

It is so comforting to know that God continually pursues us, watches over us and looks for ways to bless us. If He took the time to send us a word…the least we can do is listen.

Plant Seeds

Plant Seeds

Several years ago, I was part of a training seminar that focused on evangelism. We are all called to carry the message of Jesus Christ…especially to those who may not know Him. The goal was to make sure that the gospel was presented in a way that can be understood, embraced, and retained.

During one of the breakout sessions, we had to pair up with another person to “evangelize.” My assignment was to explain “The Rapture.”  OK. I don’t know if you have ever tried to explain that to an unbeliever, but I found out how totally inadequate my words were. The more I tried to explain, the more confused my unbeliever became. I realized that even though I understood the concept, explaining it to someone else was no easy task. The exercise let me know that I still had a lot of work to do. But what I realized most was that we are like farmers, and all we really have to do is plant the seed.

My mission then, and my mission now is the same….to communicate the “Good News” in a way that will help others seek a closer relationship with the Lord. I am so grateful for every opportunity He gives me to reach others for Christ. I have a passion for reaching the unsaved. The great thing is that God uses who we are. We don’t have to be like anyone else, or speak like anyone else. We don’t have to have a degree, or went to seminary school. All we have to do is love God, and be open to being used by Him. That’s it. And don’t worry if you don’t have all the perfect words to say…He has a specific group of people who needs to hear it just the way you deliver it.

I pray that God will use each of us to help reach others with the message that Jesus Christ saves, and that we will be able to “plant seeds” that will reap a harvest for the Kingdom of God.
