We Have The Victory!

We Have The Victory!

Every year at this time, I get this restlessness that makes me feel out of sync. Last week I wrote about it without realizing the real reason for it. I knew I didn’t feel myself, but I didn’t connect the dots until today. This season is a milestone that I wish I didn’t have to experience.

Yesterday would have been my best friend’s birthday. He passed away five years ago. Actually, he passed away exactly two weeks after his birthday. I went from planning his birthday to planning his funeral. I can’t even explain the range of emotions I felt during that time. I always thought that time heals all wounds…it doesn’t.

But I know that God does.

Psalm 18:2 it says, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”  When we can’t do anything else, we can trust in God. The Bible says that He is the lifter of our heads. He is the One who sustains us when we feel weak. The One who walks beside us, while at the same time going before us, and coming up behind us. Only God could do that.

God has been so good to us…so gracious to us. And because of what Jesus did on the cross, He no longer counts our sins against us. When we give our lives to the Lord, Jesus Christ, the Bible says that we are sealed into the family of God, and nothing can come against us and win. Not even grief. We have the victory!

Even though this is a hard time for me, I know I have the victory, and I am learning about the love of God in a way that I wouldn’t have any other way. With God’s help, I know I will continue to make it through. And, not only will I make it through…but, I will bring others through with me.

Until next time…

Season of So Many Lessons

Season of So Many Lessons

We are well into the season of Lent…when God’s people begin looking toward the cross. The place where God’s people first realized true victory. The place where Jesus Christ defeated death so that we could all have eternal life.

The shed blood of Jesus, made us pure in God’s sight so that He no longer sees our sin. What Jesus did forever cleansed us so that we could be reconciled back to God. I thank God for that, because even though we may not be able to see it right now, we have the promise in His word that victory belongs to us. In 2 Corinthians 2:1 it says, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. Wherever we go, we carry Him with us. We don’t go to meet Him there–we actually bring Him.

The enemy will try to lead us to believe differently, but the people of God know the truth. Everything that happens in and around us has its purpose. God designed it that way. God’s word says that His people will always triumph. No matter what happens…we will be victorious! And for that, we owe Him everything.

If nothing else, this season has taught me a lot of lessons. I have learned to rely on God in ways I never thought possible. I have learned that He will be with me through everything I go through, and He will love me even when I don’t love myself. Most importantly, I have learned that God always has a plan, that nothing ever surprises Him, and that He is always in control.

Until next time…

Just Listen.

Just Listen.

With the war in Ukraine, rumors of war in other parts of the world, and even the violence we are experiencing right here in the United States, we can go to God’s word to find comfort. In Proverbs 1:33 it says, “But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.”

If we stay close to God’s word, listen to what He says, and follow His way, He promises to give us peace. And not only to give us peace, but to comfort our minds and our spirits so that we don’t even have to live in fear of harm. Nothing can harm us. We have eternal life through Jesus Christ. That means that even if they come after our bodies…they can’t have our souls. And I know I’ve said it before, but if God made the heavens and the earth, what is it that He won’t do for those He loves? You can trust, and believe that.

Our God is so faithful. Even in those times when we fall into the enemy’s trap, and we end up doing exactly what he wants us to do. Like when he wants us to doubt our ability, or when he wants us to think that our lives have little meaning, and we begin to believe that no one wants to hear what we have to say anyway…God is there to bring us out, and to show us the truth.

The truth is that we are more than conquerors. We already have the victory. We are God’s masterpiece. His chosen ones. And the love He has for us doesn’t even depend on whether we have sense enough to receive it…He just loves us anyway. Who wouldn’t want to love a God like that?

Until next time…

God Will Meet Our Needs

God Will Meet Our Needs

Last week I posted about God’s favor, and how his promises cause us to be more than conquerors. And His favor belongs to all of us for no other reason than His love and compassion for us.

The awesome thing is that we don’t have to earn it. We couldn’t even if we wanted to. He gives it to us freely…without hesitation. And no matter how many times I write about it, think about it, or  speak it over the lives of others, it still amazes me that God is mindful of us.

The one thing the Lord has shown me is that when I begin to speak His word into the atmosphere…things change. It’s no longer about my issue—it’s about my God. He is God, and He can do exceedingly and abundantly above all we can even ask or think. My mission this year is to press in until His promises are so real in my life that I can’t breathe without calling one to mind.

This week the promise God is showing me is the one that says God will meet all of our needs. In Philippians 4:19 it says, “And, my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” This scripture says to me that if we have Christ Jesus…we never have to worry about ANYTHING. God will take care of our needs…all of them. Not because we have been so good, but because He is just that good.

God loves us, and He has given us grace enough to handle whatever we go through. As hard as it may be, we have to take our hands off our situation and trust our God to fix it. Then praise God for the victory, because in the end…we win.

Until next time…

Praise Him Like It’s Already Done

Praise Him Like It’s Already Done

Although I know in my heart that God’s promises belong to all of us, I haven’t been living as if I believe it. I have been writing about it, thinking about it, and speaking it to others, but I have been living like I believe. And, I think God is saying enough is enough. The one thing the Lord has shown me is that when I begin to speak His word into the atmosphere…things change. It’s no longer about my issue—it’s about my God. He is God, and He can move mountains, but I have to first believe it myself.

So, I am going to press in until His promises are so real in my life that I can’t breathe without calling one to mind.

This week the promise He is showing me is the one that says God will meet all of our needs. In Philippians 4:19 it says, “And, my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” This scripture says to me that if we have Christ Jesus…we never have to worry about ANYTHING else. God will take care of our needs…all of them. Not because we have been so good, but because if we have the Son…He has us.

God loves us, and He has given us grace enough to handle whatever we go through. As hard as it may be, we have to take our hands off our situation and trust our God to fix it…whatever way He thinks is best. Our job is to just praise Him like it’s already done.

Until next time…

Growing Faith

Growing Faith

I just feel in my spirit that this is the year for growth. That all those things that we have been through is growing us to a new level of faith in God. I have had to dig deeper than I ever have before, and God is showing me things He has never shown me before. I know that He is taking me to a new level in Him, and it scares me a little. But our Father is so awesome. No matter what happens, He promises to never leave us…not for anything. We can trust that. He will always keep His promise.

God’s word in Romans 8:37-39 says, “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This is one of my favorite scriptures. This one says that because of the sacrifice Jesus made at the cross on our behalf…we are assured the victory in every situation. He laid down His life so that we could surrender ours…

Today, I just wanted to remind you that the battle you are going through is not your end. Don’t give up…keep holding onto God’s unchanging hand. He has a purpose and a plan for everything that happens in your life. If you put your trust in Him, and hold on…He will show you some great and miraculous things.

Until next time…
