The Esther In Me

The Esther In Me

I have been thinking about how dedicated I really am to the work God has called me to. I know what I love to do, but I find myself almost sabotaging my own success. I find myself holding back when I should be pushing forward. Watching television when I should be working my craft…and I don’t know why.

I have learned that the only way to really find out what is going on with us is to look to God’s word. When I went searching this time, God took me to the Book of Esther. I love this Book because it shows how we can overcome any obstacle when we take our minds off of our comfort and do what God is calling us to do. Here was a woman who had it all. She was young, beautiful, and she had the favor of the king—and she gave it all up to save her people. She could have kept quiet. She could have, but she didn’t. Why? Why would she jeopardize her own life for the lives of people she probably barely even knew?

She did it—because it was her destiny. She was the one. She was chosen.

…And so are we. God has chosen us too. We have a purpose that was specifically created just for us. Every time we don’t do what God is calling us to do…we short-circuit our destiny. That revelation is huge. I don’t want any of us to get to the end of our lives and look back on what could have been. Let the Esther in you come out.

I’m so glad that God never gives up on us. He specializes in second chances. He wants to be able to depend on us, and know that we are more concerned with pleasing Him than we are in being comfortable.

My hope is that the Esther in us will push us all to begin walking in our destinies.

Until next time…

Be blessed!

Follow the GPS

Follow the GPS

Lateness is definitely one of my pet peeves. Getting to a place 15 minutes beforehand for me is late. I like getting there in time to unwind from the drive, relax, find my seat, and maybe speak to a few people. When you are late, you give up your choices. You have to sit wherever there is room, and sometimes you even become the center of attention, which normally is not what you want.

Every now and then when I am going to a new place, I will use my GPS. Let me tell you…using a GPS, although useful when you don’t know where you’re going, is not the easiest method of finding a destination. It’s hard to keep following the GPS when you know that you are going in the opposite direction of where you want to go, but not knowing enough to go against what the little voice in the box is telling you. I think it’s like that with God. We really don’t  know where we’re going, or what to do most of the time, but we still continue to go our own way…even though He has given us a roadmap in His Word.

We like feeling like we’re in control even though we already know we’re not. We continue to use God like a genie in a bottle. He’s just there to help us when we need it, but most of the time we manage pretty well on our own. Here’s the thing…our shortcomings don’t intimidate Him. He still keeps right on loving us and helping us even though He knows that about us. He is our Provider. He is our Waymaker. He is Lord, and the things we do cannot take away from who He is. He is still Lord, and He always will be.

Every time I use my GPS I remember how much  God loves me, and instead of going my own way, I follow that little voice knowing that even if it takes longer for me to get there…I will get there right on time.

Until next time…

Be blessed!

Take the First Step!

Take the First Step!

Ok, so we have had to learn to do things differently these days. One of the things that has changed is the way we communicate with one another. Online meetings, hook-ups, conferences, family get-togethers, are all the newest way to stay in touch. But for the most part we are still spending a lot more time alone. Thinking about that made me realize that this is the perfect time to learn some new things. A time for all of us to take advantage of the opportunity to socialize with people we have never even met, or may never meet in person, and yet now, have so much in common with.

I have to admit, it is an exciting time. Maybe because with all of the things going on in the world I am finding that I can no longer afford to be a procrastinator (I know I’m not the only one). Things we used to put off for another day, really have a different meaning right now. I mean, I always knew that tomorrow was not promised, but that hits differently today. One of the problems for me has always been that I think on things way too long. I usually think about it until it gets so big that I just give up, and basically talk myself out of it. I’m really kind of tired of doing that though.

I think for the next few weeks, I’m going to do something every day that gets me closer to the purpose God has for me. I know there are things God is calling me to, but I have not been able to get past my own thinking. The end of the year is the perfect time to re-evaluate, strategize, and plan for the new year. Better is coming.

So, I am challenging you to join me, and step out on faith. Whatever that thing is that God has placed way down deep inside of you…that thing you are afraid to even tell anyone about–do it. Don’t hold back any longer. It’s time. God is calling you to take that first step…

Will you?

Until next time…

Be blessed!
