We may need to slow down
Lately, there has been a lot of talk about relaxing the restrictions around being out in public. Now, I’m just speaking for myself here, but I can be pretty stubborn when it comes to doing what I want to do. And I definitely don’t like people making decisions for me, but this time, I want to make sure that I am using wisdom…and not boredom.
People want to get back to their lives. I get it. I am all for getting our lives back, but I don’t want to move so fast that I miss the lesson–and there is always a lesson. Recently, I came across something that I wrote a few years ago that seems appropriate right now.
“I am a firm believer that God looks for ways to bless us. Why wouldn’t He? He loves us and just like any good father, He wants to see His children prosper and succeed. He says so in His word. God knows us and He knows exactly what we need…even though sometimes we believe He moves a little too slow.”
Second Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” I believe that God has given us this time to get it together; to get our priorities in line with His. He wants to give us every opportunity to come to Him…willingly. My prayer is that we don’t miss it.
God is not slow about anything He does. He’s purposeful. We may not always like what He does, or understand what He does, but He really does want what’s best for us. We just have to slow down long enough to take advantage of it.
Until next time…
Be blessed
